The Ottawa real estate market for resale homes was very strong throughout 2019.
Both condos and freehold prices increased an average of $9%.
An average of 5% more freehold homes sold each month in 2019 compared to 2018. Condo sales were up even more dramatically – an average of about 14% more sold every month compared to 2018!
And sales in December – which is normally a slow month for sales due to the weather and the holidays – were up particularly dramatically. Almost 14% more freehold properties sold in December 2019 compared to 2018. And condo sales were up 25% compared to December 2018! These numbers were likely influenced because we were lucky to have a lot of mild days this December, and very little snow for most of the month.
It will be interesting to see what 2020 brings.
