May 1, 2015 – Ottawa Electricity Rates Jump Again

Warning:  summer hydro times and rates are now in effect.  Rates increased by approximately 4.6% effective May 1, with peak daytime hours (11am – 5pm) now running at more than $0.16 per kWh.

That means that you’ll pay more than twice as much for electricity used between 11am and 5pm compared to 7pm to 7am.

I was curious, and in looking back, the peak rate of 16 cents per kWh, is almost 250% higher than the $0.068 that I paid on my May 2011 bill—before time-of use pricing.
