Ottawa Light Rail - What's the latest scoop for light rail in Ottawa.

Ottawa has seen much debate over the past few years resulting in the understanding that we need some form of rapid transit rather than simply buses and bus roads.  The new Light Rail plans could help bring Ottawa into a new era.   To date we have just had the O-Train opened within the last couple of years, which sort of runs north-south through the city on an old track as a test site which is really taking people from nowhere to nowhere.

The Light Rail plans for Ottawa seem to change by the day at present.  To find out the latest visit the The Citizen's site at http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/features/gettingthere/index.html

Here's a link to the map for the most recent Option 4 currently being discussed and also the plan which seems to have the most likelyhood of happening so far.  This plan involves the building of a tunnel under that downtown which is really the only thing that makes sense given the already unreasonable number of busses that bomb down Slater and Albert streets at the moment.
